Job Description
CDM Smith is seeking a Geospatial Technology Leader to join our Digital Engineering Solutions team. This individual will lead the Geospatial Technology group, driving strategic architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) initiatives through advances in GIS, mapping, reality capture, remote sensing, IoT/sensors, and custom solutions. You will establish best practices for these technologies, keeping CDM Smith ahead of the curve with emerging trends, including the geospatial technology elements of digital twins. This role requires demonstrated leadership, business acumen, and expertise in AEC geospatial technologies. You will be responsible for framing problems, creating solutions, and championing implementation. As part of the Digital Engineering Solutions team, you will engage in research and development, provide guidance to AEC practices, and lead new product research and testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, monitor, supervise, and evaluate the Geospatial Technology group, aligning with Digital Engineering Solutions team goals.
- Provide guidance, instruction, training, and leadership to inspire optimal team performance.
- Foster a positive, communicative, and flexible team environment that promotes bonding and collaboration.
- Build quality relationships with the team and across the organization, managing day-to-day activities efficiently.
- Achieve goals that contribute to organizational growth by identifying and prioritizing business use cases.
- Provide oversight and management of geospatial technology efforts for AEC-related needs.
- Lead vendor relationships, including Esri and other relevant geospatial technology vendors.
- Establish common standards and best practices for CDM Smith’s AEC practices from a geospatial technology perspective.
- Collaborate with CDM Smith’s Information Technology team on infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT policies.
- Act as a collaborative partner to business line stakeholders, understanding their needs and strategic objectives.
- Drive business strategy by working with leadership to identify and prioritize problems suited for custom solutions.
- Translate business challenges into advanced digital solutions and quantify risks and rewards.
- Manage staff, evaluate performance, mentor, plan career paths, and ensure HR policies are followed.
- Present to internal and external audiences as needed.
- Assist business lines with marketing, communications, and business development descriptions from a technology perspective.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- 12 years of relevant experience, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required based on project demands.
