Position Summary
The Product Manager, Digital Retailing assists in shaping individual product requirements to support existing product strategy. This role is accountable for assisting in driving the full product lifecycle from ideation to end-of-life, specifically focusing on relevant product feature requirements with limited interaction on net new products. They ensure that user personas and product requirements are defined and reflected in user stories, and may also own or assist in Epic development. Working closely with the Scrum Master and agile team, this individual participates in backlog grooming and ensures timely decision-making on product requirement trade-offs.
Supervision and Autonomy
This position conducts tasks and assignments as directed, operating with moderate supervision and receiving little instruction on routine work, with detailed instructions provided for new projects or assignments. There is latitude for independent judgment for defined tasks, utilizing existing procedures to complete diverse assignments.
Product Knowledge
The successful candidate will develop competence by completing structured work assignments and will expand knowledge about the industry, customers, and organization to capture internal and external requirements.
Leadership
This role leads product requirements, works daily with agile teams, and defines user stories and Features (Epics). Successful execution in this role has an impact on overall product deliverables and related customer and business outcomes. The impact on commitments is limited, and issues can be overcome with no more than a moderate disruption to the business.
Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Assist in shaping the individual product requirements in support of an existing product strategy.
- Accountable for assisting in driving the full product lifecycle from ideation to end-to-end of life.
- Responsible for relevant, specific product feature requirements, with limited interaction with net new products.
- Ensures that user personas & product requirements are defined and reflected in user stories.
- May also own and/or assist in Epic development.
- Working with Scrum Master and agile team on backlog grooming and ensures that timely decision making on product requirement trade-offs.
- Translate defined product vision & Features (Epics) into user stories (based on feedback from dealers/customers & analysis of user & buyer personas) to deliver differentiated customer outcomes.
- Manage the backlog for sprint teams, partnering with R&D/scrum master in prioritization of user backlog, supporting full lifecycle from definition, beta, showcase, & retrospective.
- Work with other CDK product managers and product marketing to articulate the value proposition for user stories & Features (Epics).
- Understand the key product success metrics (e.g. adoption, profitability, NPS, market share growth) & how they relate to user stories/Features (Epics).
- Invest in gaining functional expertise & SME through training, partnering with more experienced CDK product managers.
- Develop & prioritize user stories based on user/market requirements, strategy & business plan.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the CDK Digital Retail products.
- Knowledge of the automotive industry, relevant customer environment.
- Pragmatic Institute Experience.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- 2+ years of Product Owner or Product Management and/or equivalent experience in Support, Implementation, Success, or Training and willingness to learn.
- Experience in Agile software/DevOps methodologies & working with globally distributed teams.
- Experience in creating user stories, working with R&D & other product managers to drive end-to-end execution of product releases.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills.
- Experience is facilitating customer communications.
- Ability to listen & consider the points of view of others, collaborate & build consensus with cross-functional areas.
- Strong technical aptitude, can work with R&D to translate business requirements into actionable user stories.
- Strong track record of product execution in dynamic environment.
- Travel up to 25% of time.
