Overview

At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains, and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. The Developmental Editorial Assistant will support newsgathering and production in a one-year full-time contract. This role is designed to fast-track development by providing exposure to higher-level editorial roles including Associate Producer, Senior Writer, and Producer positions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with scripts and operations in the control room and newsroom.
  • Support newsgathering and production efforts.
  • Work closely with the CBC News Network team.
  • Adhere to CBC journalistic policies, standards, and practices.
  • Be prepared for background checks including a criminal record check.

Qualifications & Relevant Skills

  • University degree in journalism or a related field.
  • Previous journalistic, editorial, or on-the-job experience.
  • Ability to use video and sound creatively.
  • Knowledge of CBC News and programming is essential.
  • Familiarity with iNews, MediaCentral, Vizrt and Dalet Plus is an asset.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organization skills.
  • Ability to work shifts including early mornings, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
