The Mission of a Data Architect

We are actively seeking an exceptional Data Architect to join our expanding Cloud Data Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in data architecture and machine learning (ML) system design, who is passionate about collaborating with customers, partners, and colleagues to drive innovation. Your mission will be to work closely with Caylent’s Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Project Managers to deliver cutting-edge AWS solutions for our diverse customer base, utilizing the latest technologies to bring innovative ideas to market.

Your Assignment as a Data Architect

  • You will act as a mission control specialist, guiding both Cayliens and Customers through Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups and retrospectives.
  • Translate complex customer requirements into a workable backlog of tickets for engineers.
  • Delegate tasks to a team of engineers to ensure successful completion of customer projects.
  • Lead critical requirements gathering sessions, backlog grooming, and architecture discussions.
  • Apply your profound understanding of DevOps pipelines, encompassing build automation, branching strategies, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, security, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across customer development, testing, and production environments.
  • Automate software testing at various levels (component, configuration item, subsystem, system) and meticulously monitor results.
  • Write production-quality code, including comprehensive unit and integration tests.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team to deliver top-quality cloud native applications on AWS for customers.
  • Clearly communicate and meticulously document your designs, processes, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a passion for continuous learning, mentoring peers, exploring new technologies, and learning from our world-class engineering team.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced teammates, while also benefiting from the mentorship of world-class engineers.

Your Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide architectural choices and ensure overall technical viability.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders regarding solution decisions.
  • Ensure high performance, robust security, and scalability in all designs.
  • Produce detailed architectural documentation and thorough technical assessments.

Required Technical Qualifications:

  • Solid experience leading and managing complex multi-database migration projects (on-premises to cloud, cross-RDBMS) with minimal downtime and risk.
  • Expertise in designing OLTP and OLAP systems, including normalization, indexing, concurrency, ER modeling, and dimensional design.
  • In-depth knowledge of at least two major RDBMS platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Solid advanced knowledge in High Availability (HA)/Disaster Recovery (DR), cost-control patterns, and robust database security.
  • Advanced experience in performance analysis, query optimization, execution plan analysis, and troubleshooting complex database issues.
  • Solid experience architecting RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted databases within the broader AWS ecosystem.
  • Skilled in designing architecture diagrams, technical documentation, runbooks, and detailed migration playbooks.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and automation for various workloads.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD practices, security best practices, and FinOps.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hybrid cloud expertise.
  • Prior consulting or professional services experience.
  • AWS certifications (Professional/Specialty level).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.

Experience Requirements:

  • 6+ years of RDBMS architecture experience.
  • 3+ years of AWS architecture experience.

Language:

  • Advanced English (minimum C1).
