The Role

As the Senior Manager Data - Governance, Quality and Master Data Management at Cat Financial, you will lead a team of Data Specialists. Your responsibilities will encompass data governance, master data management, data stewardship, data quality, and data design and modeling. You will be responsible for the Customer 360 customer data mastering process in collaboration with Cat Digital business partners and maintaining the health of master data matching. This role requires regular interaction with peer and senior level leaders across Cat Financial business, IT, and other Caterpillar divisions. You will be a key leader engaged in the data strategy for Cat Financial and large-scale data initiatives across Caterpillar.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Data Specialists focused on data governance, master data management, data stewardship, data quality, data design, and modeling.
• Oversee the Customer 360 customer data mastering process with Cat Digital business partners.
• Ensure the health and accuracy of master data matching.
• Interface regularly with peer and senior level leaders in business, IT, and other Caterpillar divisions.
• Contribute significantly to the data strategy for Cat Financial and large-scale data initiatives across Caterpillar.

Skill Descriptors

Communicating Complex Concepts (Extensive Experience)

Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience. Uses subtle cues to determine the language and experience level of an individual or group. Introduces technical terminology to listeners in the context of the product or service. Uses effective analogies to help an audience understand a novel feature of a product or service. Explains important details as they relate to the basic value of the product or service. Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers. Communicates to clients regarding expectations of all parties. Participates in negotiating the terms of the business relationship. Conducts periodic reviews of work effort, progress, issues, and successes. Maintains productive, long-term relationships with clients or vendors. Creates opportunities to educate support teams on client priorities. Empowers others to establish collaborative, healthy relationships.

Organizational Leadership (Extensive Experience)

Knowledge of leadership concepts and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives. Employs various group decision-making methods depending on the situation. Promotes efficacy through monitoring, coaching & motivating subordinates, intervention, etc. Translates vision into specific functional or departmental initiatives. Uses emotional contagion to affect the mood of group members, tone of group and group processes. Uses a normative decision model (with leadership styles and situational variables) to select style. Initiates structure: role clarification, setting standards, holding subordinates accountable, etc.

Database Structures (Working Knowledge)

Knowledge of database structures; ability to organize and store data in a particular data structure. Implements and operates multiple types of database structures, and troubleshoots complex problems associated with these structures. Decides business logic in database management systems and connections among different database structures.

Information Management (Extensive Experience)

Knowledge of an organization's existing and planned Information Architecture and Information Management (IM) methodology; ability to collect and manage information from different sources, and distribute this information to enhance operational efficiency. Directs the implementation of information processing and operation standards to protect and manage information assets. Develops capabilities, features and uses for major IM platforms. Coaches others on issues and considerations for managing structured vs. unstructured data. Advises on improvement plans for existing and forecasted information architecture. Consults on all major information management platforms and practices. Consults on information architecture concepts, disciplines and practices.

Additional Information

This position requires the successful candidate to work full time, 5 days per week in the Nashville main office.

Compensation & Benefits Summary

Pay Range: $151,440.00 - $242,304.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
