The Machine Network Team Leader is responsible for leading a team creating and implementing advanced communication and network technologies on current and future machine platforms. This role will ensure seamless integration of electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture, technology strategies, and communication frameworks to deliver deterministic, secure, and scalable machine operations. Provides Technical leadership in the Design, development, and enhancement of electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices to optimize products and system.
What You Will Do
- Provides technical leadership in Designing advanced electrical control systems and integrating electrical and mechanical systems.
- Providing technical leadership in Designing and implementing software and procedures to control and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices performance in collaboration with scientists.
- Providing technical leadership in Designing and prototyping mechatronic devices with motors, solenoids, gears, sensors, and springs.
- Provide technical direction in Identifying and addressing areas of product weakness in finished products.
- Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

- Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Technology Advising: Knowledge of effective advisory methods and ability to provide valued information and advice to clients regarding products, technologies, services and solutions for a specific technology domain.
- Conceptual Thinking: Knowledge of thinking and reasoning at a conceptual level; ability to identify the critical ideas and interdependencies among system elements that impact performance.
- Embedded Systems: Knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within.
- Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
- Product Development in Manufacturing: Knowledge of methodologies, tools and techniques of product development; ability to design, build and manage manufacturing of new products.
Top Candidates Will Have
- A bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science program
- Knowledge of industry standards (AUTOSAR, IEEE, SAE), automotive Ethernet, CAN FD, and MACsec.
- Expertise in communication architecture, distributed applications, and network resource management.
- Strong knowledge of automotive network technologies and scalable network design principles.
- Proficiency in automotive network security, functional safety, and compliance frameworks.
Additional Details
This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL office. Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position. Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
Summary Pay Range: $147,760.00 - $221,640.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
