Job Description
About Cash App
It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments, Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem, developing unique financial products, including Afterpay/Clearpay, to provide a better way to send, spend, invest, borrow and save to our 50+ million monthly active customers. We want to redefine the world's relationship with money to make it more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible.
Today, Cash App has thousands of employees working globally across office and remote locations, with a culture geared toward innovation, collaboration and impact. We've been a distributed team since day one, and many of our roles can be done remotely from the countries where Cash App operates. No matter the location, we tailor our experience to ensure our employees are creative, productive, and happy.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer, Credit and Commerce with deep visual expertise to join our Credit and Commerce team at Cash App, working on the Afterpay product. This team is reimagining how people access, spend, and manage money - from on-demand credit to next-gen commerce. The problems are complex - many are being defined for the first time. You’ll lead the visual expression of new financial paradigms, making the invisible - cash flow, liquidity, debt - feel clear, human, and empowering. This role is ideal for a senior designer who thrives in ambiguity and nascent concepts, has mastery in motion and visual design, and wants to push design into new territory through AI, real-time interactions, and expressive UI.
This role can be performed anywhere in Australia and the US – West-coast preferred.
What You Will Do
- Lead the end-to-end product design of key initiatives across Lending and Commerce, setting a high bar for craft, clarity, and emotional resonance.
- Champion experimentation and creative exploration that push the boundaries of what financial tools can be.
- Define the visual and motion language for complex financial interactions - from cash flow animations to repayment journeys - and guide others in implementing them.
- Drive the development of interactive product experiences and visualizations that help customers understand and act on their financial behavior.
- Collaborate with AI/ML and data science teams to shape generative, adaptive, and personalized financial experiences.
- Influence product strategy by framing concepts through compelling visual narratives and prototypes.
- Mentor designers, helping to elevate visual rigor across the team.
- Partner with the design systems team to evolve our visual language, animations, and interaction patterns.
What You Have
- 8+ years of experience crafting impactful digital products.
- A portfolio that demonstrates world-class visual, motion and product design, in shipping consumer products.
- Proven experience designing end-to-end product experiences across mobile and web.
- Expert-level fluency in motion and prototyping tools.
- Proven ability to integrate visuals and motion into scalable systems and cohesive product narratives.
- Experience working with or designing for AI-driven, adaptive, or personalized interfaces.
- Strategic thinking and comfort with ambiguity - you’re able to translate loosely defined concepts into compelling design directions.
- Deep interest in making financial products more expressive, human, and accessible to the next generation.
