What To Expect as a Clearance Specialist - Intake Coordinator (Job Responsibilities)
- Process new referrals by verifying patient eligibility and coordinating benefits
- Conduct benefit verification for all patient insurance plans and document coverage details
- Calculate estimated patient financial responsibility based on benefit verification
- Initiate and secure prior authorization and medical review, including obtaining clinical documents
- Communicate with patients and referral sources regarding referral status and coverage updates
What Is Required (Qualifications)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in home infusion specialty pharmacy and/or medical intake/reimbursement
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care reimbursement guidelines
- Strong multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment while meeting productivity expectations
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and basic skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
