About the Claims Encounters Analyst Internship Program at CareSource
The CareSource Intern is responsible for providing support on special projects, initiatives, and specific activities which will vary by assignment. This 12-week, paid summer internship program offers college students an exciting opportunity to gain real-world experience and prepare for a career after college. The program features meaningful projects, "Journey-to-the-Job" seminars with CareSource leaders, an assigned mentor, access to former interns, and a chance to build new skills while working with smart, motivated people.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).
- Database querying, data analysis, and trending skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of claims operations, specifically related to encounters.
- Advanced knowledge of coding and billing processes, including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
- Knowledge of Claims IT processes/systems.
- Knowledge of claims analytic processes/systems.
- Advanced working knowledge of managed care and health claims processing and reimbursement methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Time management skills; capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing work.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current Rising Junior or Senior in an accredited degree program or graduated within the last 6 months is required.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
