About Pharmacy Operations at Cardinal Health
Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations. We service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices, as well as retail customers.
Nuclear Pharmacy Role
Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines. This role may also involve consulting with or advising physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy. A license is required.
Job Summary: Pharmacist II, Nuclear
As a Pharmacist II, Nuclear, you will lead and coordinate a team to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the nuclear pharmacy. You must be licensed to practice nuclear pharmacy in your state. Your responsibilities include optimizing pharmacy operations, ensuring efficient delivery, controlling costs, minimizing waste, maximizing customer satisfaction, and achieving positive patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with Federal and state regulations. You will also manage inventory, process orders, compound patient-specific doses, and direct a team of drivers for medication delivery after quality testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pharmaceutical care, including compounding nuclear medications and testing quality via chromatography.
- Direct the distribution of medications through a team of drivers.
- Assess and maintain pharmacy inventory, executing necessary orders and identifying alternative drugs to mitigate risks.
- Manage and direct internal nuclear pharmacy workflows, optimizing staffing and scheduling for efficient operations.
- Assist in executing plans to lower costs, increase efficiency, and drive profitable growth.
- Maintain relationships with outside suppliers and vendors for demand planning.
- Participate in administrative tasks and interact with customers.
- Potentially oversee facility operations as Pharmacist in Charge.
- Perform other duties as required to meet departmental goals and objectives, including deliveries if necessary.
Shift and Schedule
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. The schedule will vary, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties. Rotating call and holidays are required. Flexibility is essential to work different days, schedules, hours, come in early, stay late, or work overtime based on business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or PharmD.
- Valid Pharmacist’s license in the state of operation, or in the process of obtaining one.
- Completion of at least 200 hours of academic training in a nuclear pharmacy through an accredited program.
- Working knowledge of biohazardous waste management procedures.
- Clear communication skills (hearing, writing, speaking) for interacting with customers and professionals.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Manual dexterity for handling small objects and dispensing doses.
- Ability to lift containers weighing up to 55 pounds.
- Willingness to travel if needed.
- Valid driver's license and comfort driving in all weather conditions and at night.
- Flexibility to work various shifts or overtime as needed.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Ability to work weekends and be on call, including holidays.
- Prior Authorized User certification is preferred.
- Nuclear Pharmacy Training can be provided.
