Job Description
Position Overview
Capital Health is the region's leader in providing progressive, quality patient care. As a PSG Technologist, you will collect, analyze and integrate patient information to meet specific patient needs through accurate polysomnographic recordings, ancillary testing procedures, and special procedure recordings and treatment/titration procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient history and orders to determine testing parameters.
- Perform and document accurate polysomnographic, ancillary, and special procedure recordings.
- Prepare, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment following established protocols.
- Provide age-specific care and patient education during testing procedures.
- Oversee non-registered technicians and trainees ensuring quality recordings.
Minimum Requirements & Credentials
High school diploma or GED. Verified active RPSGT or RST credential (within 1 year of hire) required. Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited certification program or Associate's degree preferred. Minimum 18 months of supervised training or experience in polysomnography. Additional credentials include AHA BLS, Polysom Technologist License - NJ.
Special Training and Skills
Basic computer skills, Windows-based technical software proficiency, and training or experience in EEG or Respiratory Therapy is preferred. Excellent communication, multi-tasking, and composure in stressful situations are essential.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The role involves 12-hour shifts with frequent standing, walking, fine motor activities and occasional physical tasks such as lifting and bending. Candidates must be comfortable with a variety of physical demands and work in areas with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other occupational risks.
