Capgemini is seeking a skilled PLC Programming Engineer to join our team in Chennai. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge automation projects and develop your career within a global engineering organization. We are looking for individuals with 9+ years of experience in PLC programming, HMI design, and industrial automation.

Your Role

As a PLC Programming Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating PLC and HMI solutions for special purpose machines (SPMs) and industrial automation systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality automation solutions aligned with international standards.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Develop and modify PLC programs and HMI designs for SPMs and machine design concepts.
  • Contribute to concept design, modification, and evolution of PLC programming architectures.
  • Perform electrical component selection and calculations in compliance with IEC and CSA/UL standards.
  • Design Safety PLC systems and safety architectures in alignment with IEC and SIL standards.
  • Carry out robotic programming for Fanuc and Yaskawa robots.
  • Apply strong knowledge of pneumatics, including symbols and circuit design.

Technical Skills & Tools

  • PLC & Automation Platforms: Rockwell Automation (SLC, ControlLogix, GuardLogix, K6000, K5700), Siemens (TIA Portal V13 and above)
  • Drives: Nidec (Unidrive SP, M-Drives, Digitax drives (M750))
  • Robotics: Fanuc and Yaskawa robot programming
  • Electrical Design Tools: SEE Electrical (added advantage) or equivalent tools such as EPLAN
  • PLM / Engineering Tools: TeamCenter (Siemens)

Your Profile

  • Strong experience in PLC programming, HMI design, and industrial automation.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical design standards (IEC, CSA/UL).
  • Proven experience in Safety PLC and functional safety architecture design.
  • Knowledge of robotics integration and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to work independently, perform self-reviews, and contribute to design discussions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Automation Engineering (or related field).
