Academic Coach

About the Role

The Academic Coach serves as the primary contact for learners from matriculation through program completion at Capella University. This role involves coaching, motivating, mentoring, and removing barriers to help learners achieve their educational goals.

Responsibilities

The Academic Coach will:

• Assist learners in developing personalized academic plans.
• Utilize tools and analytics to monitor progress and engagement.
• Proactively reach out to at-risk learners to address barriers.
• Communicate via phone, email, chat, and social media.
• Collaborate with faculty and university partners to resolve issues.

Essential Duties

This role includes academic planning & engagement, progress monitoring, risk mitigation, and maintaining effective documentation of learner interactions. The Academic Coach also serves as a subject matter expert on university processes and policies while contributing to departmental projects and training initiatives.

Job Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication, relationship-building, and problem solving skills. Required experience includes two to four years of professional experience in coaching or related fields, experience with adult learners, and a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).

Work/Location Requirements

This position requires significant computer and telephone use, flexibility in work hours, occasional travel (0-10%), and the ability to work overtime during peak periods.
