Systems & Controls Accountant

About the Role

Canonical, a leading provider of open source software, is seeking a Systems & Controls Accountant to drive best practices in systems, processes, and controls. This role will be a key driver in aligning our product pricing, terms, contracting, sales processes and systems with high levels of automation using NetSuite, Salesforce and other connected business systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex NetSuite configuration, workflows, customization, and integration.
• Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance.
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
• Coordinate system maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Provide training and support to end-users.
• Oversee Sandbox accounts and ensure seamless production deployment.
• Drive process and systems improvements for end-to-end automation.
• Mentor and develop the accounting team.
• Manage internal revenue transactions and reporting processes.
• Act as the primary liaison with external auditors.

Valued Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will hold a CPA/CA or equivalent, have deep technical accounting skills especially in NetSuite, and a solid understanding of IFRS. Experience with software licensing, SaaS revenue accounting, and multi-country operations is essential. Leadership experience, a passion for technology, and even some background in data analytics or software engineering are highly desired.
