About the Senior Communications Manager - Analyst Relations Role at Canonical
Canonical is seeking an energetic and creative Senior Communications Manager with a strong background in analyst relations (AR). This role is crucial for driving Canonical’s communications strategy through the AR channel, significantly increasing the company's visibility among industry influencers, and shaping market perception across its diverse customer base and product portfolio.
The ideal candidate possesses a passion for technology, is curious about the evolving AR field, and excels at communicating a wide range of products centered around trusted open source solutions. As the AR landscape becomes increasingly data-driven and influenced by AI models, you will define and implement a data-driven engagement strategy, building key narratives and establishing relationships to advance Canonical’s market position.
This senior position within the communications team reports to the Director of Communications and involves close collaboration with Product Management, Alliances, Sales, and Marketing teams. You will play a pivotal role in communicating key product news, managing perception, and leveraging technologies like AI for market research and insights.
What your day will look like
- Prepare and execute analyst-focused communications plans for product announcements, new partnerships, and other initiatives aligned with our go-to-market strategy.
- Proactively explore and utilize new technologies like AI to analyze market trends and assess analyst perception and sentiment regarding Canonical and its products.
- Ensure GenAI platforms from analyst firms accurately reflect Canonical’s portfolio information.
- Craft and deliver compelling narratives about Canonical and its products, consistent with the company’s vision.
- Directly manage analyst relationships, coordinating touchpoints throughout the year via online briefings and industry events.
- Measure the impact of the AR program, reporting regularly on progress to leadership, implementing necessary tooling for collaboration, and managing budget.
- Proactively position Canonical in key analyst reports to drive recommendations and strengthen brand perception.
- Support the Director of Communications on broader Corporate Communications initiatives.
What we are looking for in you
- Extensive experience in market research, analyst relations, or broader communications.
- Proven experience managing technology communications (agency or in-house) or AR programs.
- A track record of delivering innovative and successful communications campaigns in the technology space, specifically enhancing company positioning through AR programs.
- Experience with cloud, SaaS, or open source technology is an advantage.
- An analytical mind with a strong sense for content that resonates with analysts and industry influencers.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and an aptitude for forging trusting relationships across diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize effectively, focus on critical tasks, and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
- A strong affinity for planning; experience with project management tools like Jira is an advantage.
- A background in product management or product marketing is a plus, but not required.
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
