Role Overview: Lead Data Governance Engineer
The Lead Data Governance Engineer develops data governance policies, processes, standards, and monitoring in compliance with internal policies and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, DPA, ISO). This role focuses on creating Python-based tooling to automate data mesh operations including data labeling, quality metrics, and maintaining data security best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, monitor, and execute data governance policies.
- Design, implement, and maintain tooling for automated data mesh operations.
- Deploy and operate services developed by the team.
- Coach and mentor team members as necessary.
- Develop and evangelize exemplary engineering and organizational practices.
What We Look For
- Strong academic background or compelling alternative experience.
- Experience with data quality, governance, and security processes.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL development.
- Excellent written and spoken English with strong presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally twice a year.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Performance engineering and security background.
- Experience with Airbyte, Ranger, Superset, Temporal, or Trino.
