About the Role
The Senior Communications Specialist at Canadian Red Cross provides strategic communications expertise for programs, services, and initiatives. Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will strengthen relationships, enhance the organization’s reputation, and support communication strategies that align with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide communications support for emergency response operations.
- Develop and implement communications plans aligned with priorities.
- Build and maintain relationships with government and partner organizations.
- Create compelling written and visual content ensuring brand consistency.
- Represent the organization at media engagements and public events.
- Collaborate with a larger communications team on strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
A minimum of 6-9 years of experience, with a college diploma or university degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field is required. Professional certification is an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required, with French as an asset. Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills are necessary to handle sensitive situations effectively.
Working Conditions
This position is partially virtual/hybrid in Canada. The majority of work is performed remotely or in a Canadian Red Cross office as needed, with occasional domestic travel. Eligibility to work in Canada is required along with successful pre-employment screening including an Enhanced Police Information Check.
