You will work on a team developing and implementing data-based tools and solutions with the goal of improving productivity and/or profitability of our Conventional assets. This Engineering Technologist/Data Scientist role provides technical support for the Production and Exploitation Engineering teams to maximize value from conventional fields and optimizing assets.

Key Accountabilities
- Identify opportunities to optimize data processes and work together with asset teams to develop solutions for analysis
- Analyze current workflows to identify opportunities to increase efficiencies through various data sources to provide accurate information
- Work with teams to integrate data systems and champion a more consistent approach to data management amongst all areas
- Use database and programming tools such as SQL, Python and AI tools to develop solutions to improve data quality and integrate across various applications within Exploitation & Production
- Convert ideas into functional and value adding solution through the use of technology
- Develop, support and maintain performance optimization and visualization tools using Tableau, PowerBI, and Excel
- Support regulatory applications, tracking, and responses for area-based projects, including regulatory submissions and documentation, understanding of AER & MER directives, compliance tracking, and data management (AER, MER, DDS, IRIS)
- Set up and manage systems to collect and track production, new well performance, drilling, workover activity and GHG emissions
What You Bring To The Role
- Typically, 2 or more years of industry experience with a post-secondary diploma, engineering degree, or equivalent
- Practical application of visualization tools is the strongest prerequisite
- Experience in Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft Access, Knime, PI Systems
- Capable of independent work and progressing tasks to completion
- Demonstrated self-motivation, exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, and a methodical approach to tackling complex challenges
- Effective communication of engineering-specific ideas and the ability to extract, transform, and structure data to meet the requirements of engineering, technical, and managerial audiences
- Familiar with database access and queries, programming (Python, VBA, SQL) and process streamlining, with willingness to learn new tools and concepts
- Familiar with oil and gas production, exploitation, exploration processes
