Job Description
The Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer and works under the supervision of an experienced AME. This role involves grooming, servicing, inspection, maintenance, and repair of aircraft and aeronautical products.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Servicing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing rotary wing aircraft
- Keeping detailed records of work performed
- Consulting with aircrew
- Organizing and housekeeping of the hangar facility
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Work Environment
Work is primarily conducted at the hangar in Southport, Manitoba and includes both indoor and outdoor aircraft servicing. The role involves shift work (days, evenings, weekends) and on-call rotations, with occasional travel for off-base support.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in or completed a Transport Canada recognized basic training program or military equivalent
- Valid Canadian Driver’s Licence
- Strong mechanical aptitude or previous mechanical experience
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Team player with a customer-focused attitude
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Southport, Manitoba
- Previous rotary wing experience is an asset
Security & Travel Requirements
Must be able to obtain Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance and access to controlled goods. Eligibility to work in Canada and willingness to travel domestically and internationally are required.
