About the Role
Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Temporary full-time Training Design and Support Specialist to join the dynamic Quality Management System team. This team is crucial for advancing and maturing the organization's quality management system, providing effective, efficient, and timely services, along with expertise in quality and regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with training course owners, subject matter experts, and management to conduct training needs analyses, defining instructional, educational, and performance objectives.
- Develop engaging training materials and courses for both technical processes and corporate programs, ensuring they meet defined learning objectives.
- Engage with stakeholders and learners to assess the effectiveness of training materials and courses, facilitating continuous improvement.
- Stay informed about industry best practices in adult learning principles, training design and development, and training management processes.
- Facilitate communities of practice for training developers to enhance the quality of training materials and courses.
- Provide necessary information to course owners for submitting work orders to the Learning Management System (LMS) administration team.
- Verify that all process documentation and training materials meet required standards, ensuring compliance with Canadian Blood Services’ quality management system and regulatory requirements.
Desired Education and Skills
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional education/certification (e.g., Certified Training and Development Professional).
- Minimum five (5) years of related experience in instructional design, education program development, or training material development.
- Proven ability to interact successfully and build credibility with senior managers and other organizational groups.
- Knowledge of core quality management system processes, including training management, and experience in a regulated environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of adult training and education principles.
- Demonstrated advanced-level skills in Articulate Storyline within the Articulate 360 suite, for developing eLearning modules.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere) and knowledge of video production and editing.
- Familiarity with generative AI, augmented, and virtual reality.
- Ability to work independently with sound judgment, knowing when to seek direction or escalate issues.
Work Environment and Benefits
This is a Temporary full-time position working in a hybrid environment, requiring at least 40% (2 days/week) on-site presence at a Canadian Blood Services location. The role offers payment in lieu of vacation and benefits, an annual performance award up to 6%, a defined benefit pension plan, employee discounts, and a wellness program. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site. Travel to other CBS offices, including the head office in Ottawa, may be required for team meetings.
