Director, Library Information Services

Overview

Canada's Drug Agency, an independent pan-Canadian health organization, is seeking a Director, Library Information Services. Headquartered in Ottawa with a satellite office in Toronto, the agency drives better coordination and alignment in Canada’s drug and health technology landscape.

Primary Focus

Reporting to the Chief Scientist and Vice-President, the Director oversees the research information services program. This role involves strategic planning, process optimization, and leadership of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality information resources and innovative information retrieval methods.

Daily Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the research information services program.
• Contribute to strategic, business, and operational planning.
• Introduce innovative tools for information retrieval.
• Provide leadership through coaching and resource management.
• Collaborate across teams and with international partners.
• Manage budget and prepare executive briefing materials.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in library science or related field.
• 5-10 years of leadership experience in information services.
• In-depth knowledge of research methods and international best practices.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
• Consulting and strategic thinking capabilities.

Asset Qualifications

• Bilingualism (French and English).
• A second graduate degree in science or health sciences.
