Position Overview
The Copywriter, reporting to the VP, Brand Image & Creative Agency, is responsible for writing and editing compelling and engaging copy for marketing, brand, and commercial touchpoints. In this role, you’ll work on our Creative team to ideate and execute copy that’s optimized for e-commerce, digital, and traditional channels. The Copywriter will oversee the quality of writing across all consumer-facing creative work and own the brand voice both internally and externally. Cross-functionally, this role will support the marketing team, digital and e-commerce team as well as the merchandising team.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Creative and Brand leadership to translate Canada Goose’s vision, target consumer, and strategic priorities into an engaging tone of voice that comes to life consistently and across all content
- Work closely with the Art Directors and Designers to create strong editorial and storytelling copy for external campaigns and internal pitch concepting
- Own our style guide and glossary of terms and fact check for consistency where needed
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to lead company-wide buy-in of our tone of voice
- Develop a process for copywriting within the broader Creative team and define and optimize the copywriting approval process within the organization
- Deliver well-designed, strategic creative copy for brand and marketing touchpoints and digital channels including:
- Email: Digitally savvy and engaging copy to drive engagement in our commercial email program and inspire click through
- Product Copy: Create compelling consumer-facing copy for all new and core products, from features and benefits to validating product claims
- Style & Colour Naming: Support Design & Merchandising teams on seasonal style and colour naming program.
- Social Posts: Assist the social team in providing compelling captions and narrative flow across social channels including Instagram, Tik Tok, X, LinkedIn, etc.
- Web: Support copy and content on CG.com from short headlines to longform editorial—romance our product offerings and inspire our commercial audience
- Integrated marketing components: Interactive, promotional advertising, digital and other media (television, radio, outdoor)
- Responsible for originating creative written concepts that support the internal brief
- Lead and / or contribute to brainstorming initiatives and gathering ideas to support the team’s creative delivery
- Present and effectively sell ideas to stakeholders
- Apply strategic thinking to copy and have the ability to consider customer journey mindset and deliver compelling messaging for journey stage.
- Supervise vendors/freelancers/interns assigned to projects
- Work with production personnel, vendors, and AORs, providing complete input, any instruction, and supervision required to smoothly complete production of approved creative
- Review and proof all production materials on assigned projects
- Continually strive to understand the business needs of each project and combine with effective, unique copy and storytelling
Let's Talk About You
- Minimum 5 years working as a copywriter in an advertising agency setting
- Fully proficient in MS Office (Word, and PowerPoint)
- Proven experience with business-to-business campaigns
- An outstanding portfolio that clearly demonstrates a wide range of produced communications materials in advertising and direct marketing copy and related collateral materials
- Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills
- Writes clearly and concisely
- A demonstrated ability to expand thinking to integrated channels
- Ability to understand/apply/maintain brand tone of voice
- An ability to think in terms of big, integrated ideas is a must
- The ability to collaborate with all levels of internal and external partners
- Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Able to work on conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Strong presentation skills
- Experience in the apparel industry is a bonus
