About the Role
We are seeking a part-time Building Engineer contractor to join our Building Engineering team. This is a remote, flexible role ideal for experienced building engineers looking to contribute to impactful technical work.
What You'll Do
- Conduct end-to-end retrofit analyses for commercial properties using Cambio's proprietary tools, directly contributing to customer decarbonization plans.
- Execute Building Science Engine (BSE) workflow analyses by reviewing PCA reports, utility data, equipment inventories, and site visit notes to configure and run analyses.
- Review Machine Learning (ML)-generated Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) for accuracy, completeness, and defensibility, adjusting scope, savings estimates, and customer-facing comments as needed.
- Integrate PCA-sourced ECMs and apply cost override workflows with documented justifications.
- Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) reviews, responding to flags, escalating non-standard assumptions, and ensuring all published content is approved.
- Maintain current Retrofit Analytics Building Log (RABL) tickets, documenting overrides, blockers, and progress updates.
- Report BSE bugs and provide tooling feedback through established channels to enhance platform quality.
What We're Looking For
- Background in mechanical, electrical, or building engineering, with a strong preference for familiarity with commercial HVAC systems, energy audits, and Property Condition Assessments (PCAs).
- Proficiency in working with proprietary software toolsets and structured workflows.
- Exceptional attention to detail and sound engineering judgment for determining ECM scope and cost.
- Ability to work independently, proactively identify blockers, and communicate effectively in a remote, asynchronous environment.
- Prior experience with building energy modeling, retrofit analysis, or sustainability consulting is considered a plus.
