About the Role
A leading AI research initiative, in collaboration with Mercor, invites mathematics competition experts and Olympiad-level problem setters to contribute to a groundbreaking project at the intersection of AI and advanced mathematical reasoning. The role is a short-term, high-impact research engagement with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Write original IMO-style math problems for AI challenges.
- Evaluate AI-generated solutions for rigor and correctness.
- Identify logical flaws and incomplete arguments in solutions.
- Produce clear and precise LaTeX-formatted solutions.
- Maintain high standards of mathematical precision and creativity.
Ideal Qualifications
Applicants must be proficient in LaTeX and have experience in mathematics competitions or problem writing. Suitable candidates include problem writers, coaches, selection committee members, medalists, or participants in major competitions such as IMO, IMO TST, RMM, USAMO, APMO, IMC, and EGMO. Candidates should be strong in algebra, combinatorics, geometry, and number theory and skilled at explaining complex reasoning clearly and rigorously. Preference is given to IMO and RMM medalists and selection committee members.
Project Details
- Commitment: Minimum 20 hours/week, up to 40 hours/week available.
- Duration: Approximately 2 months with potential extension.
- Start Date: Rolling, typically within 1–2 days of approval.
- Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous with flexible working hours.
- Compensation: Ranges from $50 to $85 per hour based on achievement level.
