About the Role

The Japanese Language Specialist role at Call For Referral is an independent contractor position designed for those with deep expertise in Japanese language and culture. In this role, you will work with pioneering AI research initiatives in collaboration with Mercor to evaluate and refine AI-generated images and videos derived from Japanese-language prompts.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with frontier multimodal AI tools, such as Gemini’s image and video systems, to ensure that outputs are not only linguistically accurate, but also culturally authentic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and refine AI-generated images and videos for fluency and accuracy.
  • Provide cultural and linguistic feedback to improve AI model outcomes.
  • Identify and correct translation issues and cultural inconsistencies.
  • Experiment with Gemini and other multimodal AI tools.
  • Document failure modes and suggest improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers on AI performance.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Full professional fluency in Japanese and English.
  • Deep understanding of Japanese culture and idiomatic expressions.
  • Familiarity with Japanese media, literature, and creative content.
  • Excellent attention to detail and linguistic accuracy.
  • Strong written communication skills for structured feedback.
  • Curiosity about generative AI tools and their applications.

Project Details

Start Date: Immediate

Duration: 5 weeks (with potential for extension)

Commitment: Minimum 10 hours per week

Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous

Compensation: $32–$37 USD per hour

Type: Independent Contractor, with weekly payments via Stripe Connect
