Job Description

About the Role

As a Collaboration Systems & AI Innovation Intern at Calix, you will operate at the intersection of company communication and intelligent work methodologies. You will play a crucial role in managing our global messaging platforms, specifically Microsoft Teams and Slack, and actively participate in the deployment and refinement of AI-driven productivity tools, including Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio.

This internship offers a substantive learning experience, moving beyond typical intern tasks. You will gain hands-on experience in enterprise-grade administration and contribute to building the next generation of AI agents designed to automate workflows for thousands of employees. The program is designed to last approximately 90 days.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI Agent Development: Assist in building and testing custom GPTs and conversational bots within Microsoft Copilot Studio to address specific business challenges.
  • Platform Support: Help maintain and optimize Microsoft Teams and Slack environments, ensuring seamless messaging and conferencing experiences for all users.
  • User Enablement: Create practical "How-To" guides, engaging video walkthroughs, and comprehensive documentation to maximize employee utilization of Microsoft Copilot and various video conferencing tools.
  • Troubleshooting: Collaborate with the team to diagnose and efficiently resolve issues related to web/video conferencing and other collaboration software.
  • Data & Analytics: Monitor usage trends and gather user feedback to identify strategic opportunities for improving tool adoption and enhancing workflow automation.

  • The complete lifecycle of AI prompt engineering and the creation of intelligent agents.
  • Effective change management strategies for rolling out new technology across a diverse workforce.
  • Advanced technical troubleshooting techniques within a demanding corporate setting.

Qualifications

  • Current Student: Actively pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a closely related field.
  • Tech Enthusiast: Demonstrates a keen interest in the latest Generative AI trends and possesses a genuine curiosity about the functioning of Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Problem Solver: Proactively investigates and resolves issues by digging into settings and documentation rather than simply reporting problems.
  • Communicator: Capable of clearly and patiently explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
  • Bonus Points: Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, basic scripting skills (PowerShell/Python), or prior experience in moderating/managing online communities (e.g., Microsoft Teams or Slack).
