Job Description
Our Mission at Calibrate
Calibrate is dedicated to transforming obesity care by addressing it as a biological condition, not a failure of willpower. Our program, developed by metabolic health experts, integrates clinical research, personalized coaching, and lifestyle adjustments to achieve sustainable weight loss and improved metabolic health outcomes. Facing America's largest chronic condition, which affects 175 million adults in a $600 billion market, Calibrate aims to close the care gap by pioneering the first value-based model in obesity treatment.
Since its direct-to-consumer launch in 2020, Calibrate has expanded into enterprise channels, enhancing access to care. Our app provides members with coaching, tailored education, daily tracking, and community engagement focused on the four pillars of metabolic health: food, sleep, exercise, and emotional well-being.
About The Clinical Data Scientist Role
We are seeking a Clinical Data Scientist to spearhead the creation of robust, clinically sound evidence demonstrating the effectiveness of our program in improving member health and long-term outcomes.
This role is inherently clinical. You will be responsible for designing and executing outcome analyses that will inform clinical decision-making, build credibility with employers and partners, and strengthen the foundational elements of our care model.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Impact:
- Design and analyze clinical outcome studies assessing weight loss and its durability, medication adherence, metabolic and cardiometabolic risk indicators, and patterns of safety or clinical escalation.
- Develop analyses to define appropriate cohorts, starting points, and follow-up timelines for measuring program impact.
- Collaborate closely with Clinical leadership to evaluate treatment pathways, ensure protocol adherence, and optimize the timing and intensity of clinical touchpoints.
- Assess the influence of clinical interventions on patient outcomes and overall member experience.
- Utilize insights to inform and continuously refine clinical protocols and program design.
- Contribute to the development of internal evidence frameworks that define and measure clinical effectiveness within our care model.
- Translate complex analytic findings into clear, actionable insights for clinical and operational decision-making.
Data & Analytics:
- Ensure all analyses conform to accepted clinical standards and are suitable for presentation to clinical leadership, employers, and partners.
- Produce comprehensive documentation and outputs capable of withstanding external scrutiny and supporting potential presentations or publications.
- Partner with Data Engineering to establish clinical data requirements, quality standards, and precise analytic definitions.
- Guarantee that all clinical analyses are reproducible, auditable, and thoroughly documented.
- Work cross-functionally with Clinical and Product teams to enhance the integrity, credibility, and usability of our outcomes data.
Background and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in analyzing clinical or healthcare outcomes data.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing longitudinal data and working with cohort-based analyses.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python or R.
- Proficiency with Looker is preferred.
