Position Overview

Calian GNSS, based in Ottawa, is seeking a Manufacturing Innovation Specialist to optimize high-volume production processes through robotics, automation, and innovative solutions. The role offers the chance to see immediate impact within a close-knit and collaborative team, reporting to the Director, GNSS Systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production processes to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
• Lead acquisition, programming, and deployment of automation systems.
• Collaborate with operators to ensure practical and effective automation.
• Design custom tooling, fixtures, and test systems using MCAD and EDA tools.
• Collect and analyze production data to recommend cost-saving initiatives.
• Maintain and troubleshoot automated systems while supporting production.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with at least 10 years of experience in manufacturing automation roles. Hands-on experience with robotics, automation, and programmable control systems is required. A strong knowledge of electronic product assembly, including SMT processes, and proficiency in MCAD and EDA tools are essential. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical and financial impacts to varied audiences are also critical.
