About Calendly's Infrastructure Team
The Cloud Infrastructure team is vital to Calendly's platform, ensuring reliability, scalability and performance for millions of users. The team owns the systems powering Calendly’s core product, impacting every engineering team.
Role Overview
As a Staff Cloud FinOps Engineer, you will operate at the intersection of infrastructure, product, and finance. You will influence architectural decisions, introduce new practices, and shape sustainable cloud and SaaS cost strategies. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, you will own the FinOps strategy and its execution across Calendly’s cloud and SaaS environments.
A Day in the Life
- Build FinOps capabilities: cost visibility, forecasting, dashboards, and reporting.
- Establish and lead Calendly’s FinOps practice across platforms.
- Analyze cost drivers and implement impactful technical optimizations.
- Partner with Infrastructure and Data teams on cost-efficient solutions.
- Collaborate with Finance and Procurement on budgeting and cost optimization.
What We Need From You
- 8+ years in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or FinOps.
- Deep hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS) and SaaS providers.
- Proven record of driving cost optimization initiatives and measurable outcomes.
- Ability to operate in high ambiguity and set direction.
- Strong analytical and communication skills to influence senior leaders.
- Availability for on-call rotation to address critical production issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or scaling a FinOps practice.
- Track record of company-wide cost initiatives with sustained impact.
- FinOps Foundation certification or equivalent applied experience.
- Background in Infrastructure, SRE, or Data platform teams.
- Experience designing cost-aware platforms and self-service tooling.
- Understanding of cloud vendor pricing models and long-term cost strategies.
- Experience presenting cost and optimization strategies to executive leadership.
- Exposure to high-growth SaaS products with variable cost models.
