About the Role

Cactus Communications is actively seeking highly qualified researchers, including retired and former researchers, to serve as Freelance Peer Reviewers specializing in Digital Epidemiology. This pivotal role involves critically evaluating manuscripts for various journals and publishers, ensuring the highest standards of scientific rigor and ethical conduct.

What You Need to Have

• Doctorate (PhD/MD) or equivalent advanced degree in Digital Epidemiology or a closely related subject area.
• At least two publications in the last two years within your field of expertise.
• A thorough understanding of research methodologies and ethical principles relevant to your discipline.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to dissect complex research.
• Strong written communication skills, enabling you to provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback.
• Demonstrated ability to adhere to deadlines and manage time effectively across multiple tasks.
• A steadfast commitment to maintaining confidentiality and objectivity throughout the review process.
• Prior experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with online manuscript submission and review systems will be beneficial.

What You Will Do

• Assess Novelty: Determine if the manuscript presents original research and contributes new knowledge or significant insights to the field of Digital Epidemiology.
• Evaluate Study Design and Methodology: Critically assess whether the study design and methods are appropriate, comprehensive, and sufficiently detailed to ensure reproducibility of the research.
• Literature Review: Verify that the manuscript thoroughly incorporates and accurately cites relevant, up-to-date research within the field.
• Analyze Results and Conclusions: Evaluate the clarity and appropriateness of the results presentation and confirm that the conclusions are strongly supported by the data and hold significant implications for the field.
• Providing Constructive Feedback: Offer detailed, constructive feedback, suggesting specific improvements or highlighting any flaws, omissions, or potential ethical concerns.
• Recommend Publication: Based on your comprehensive evaluation, provide a recommendation to the journal editor regarding whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected.
