About the Customer Solution Unit GeoInfo, Analytics & Simulation

The CS GIAS unit provides the Bundeswehr with IT systems for data capture, georeferencing, analysis, and integration to achieve superior decision speed. The new team focuses on the operation of GIS systems (based on ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise) and meteorological (METOC) systems, ensuring efficient migration support, process automation, and service optimization.

Your Responsibilities as Senior Engineer Geoinformationssysteme

• Plan, install, operate, and monitor complex GIS (ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise) and METOC systems with associated database environments.
• Develop and enhance services to meet the evolving requirements of GeoInfoDBw for user satisfaction.
• Carry out operational tasks, improve system stability, and optimize performance.
• Coordinate solution transfers into production with relevant units ensuring quality standards.
• Implement IT security, privacy, and operational guidelines.
• Manage change requests including updates, upgrades, and release modifications.
• Optimize processes for GIS/METOC operations and automate administrative tools and procedures.

Your Profile

• Completed degree in IT or a relevant technical education (e.g., Fachinformatik).
• Approximately 4 years of experience in operating large IT systems and involvement in complex IT projects.
• Deep knowledge of GIS systems (ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise) and METOC systems including corresponding databases.
• Experience in automating administrative tasks in large-scale GIS environments (e.g., using ArcPy) is a plus.
• Hands-on implementation, control, operation and technical support experience across various platforms (Linux, AIX, Windows, scripting).
• Understanding of IT security standards (BSI-Grundschutz, ISO 27001) and ITIL framework.
• Fluency in German and strong English skills.
• Team player with strong communication, initiative, and analytical skills with international travel readiness.
