Overview

BWI GmbH is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to help drive the digital future of Germany. As the primary digitalization partner of the Bundeswehr, BWI provides stable, secure, and efficient IT services both domestically and abroad, contributing to the operational readiness of the German armed forces.

Project: German Mission Network (GMN)

In this project, the team develops a management support system that accompanies the lifecycle of leadership information systems for the Bundeswehr. Tasks span from manufacturing processes to data center support and deployment planning. A model-based approach is used to generate automated setup scripts that enable standardized installation, configuration, and updates of mission-critical IT systems.

Your Responsibilities

  • Utilize the software development platform and integrate it with BWI and customer systems.
  • Evaluate, procure, and provide additional developer tools for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support the security hardening of development platforms and assist in creating IT security concepts.
  • Coach agile DevOps project teams in a secure software supply chain model.
  • Develop and enhance automation scripts.
  • Provide technical insights to optimize CI/CD pipelines working with development teams.

Your Profile

  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent IT training.
  • At least six years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong skills in deployment automation with Ansible and Linux server administration.
  • Expertise in container and orchestration technologies (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitLab CI, SonarQube, Nexus, Harbor.
  • Knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python, Ruby) and command-line interpreters (Bash, PowerShell).
  • Experience with IT security hardening and Identity & Access Management (e.g., KeyCloak).
  • Development skills are an advantage.
  • Fluent in German and proficient in English.
