Job Description
About Business Post Group
The Business Post Group has undergone a profound transformation in recent years. What began as a respected independent journalism business has evolved into a modern media and knowledge Group spanning trusted journalism, high-impact events and experiences, executive education, research, and data-driven products. What connects all of this work is insight. We help audiences, organisations, and leaders make sense of complexity through reporting, analysis, conversation, learning, and data. Data and AI are increasingly central to how we generate, sharpen, and scale that insight, both externally and inside the Group.
We are building a central Business Intelligence and AI function to embed intelligence, automation, and smarter decision-making across the Group. This role is an opportunity to help shape that capability from the ground up, working across journalism, marketing, experiences, and education to ensure insight flows effectively through the organisation.
About the Business Intelligence Executive Role
The Business Intelligence Executive plays a key role in strengthening the Group’s AI-enabled, insight-driven operating model. You will help translate strategic priorities into structured execution, improve analytical capability across teams, and identify opportunities where AI and automation can increase speed, clarity, and operational efficiency. You will operate close to live initiatives and real decisions, helping the Group move faster, reduce friction, and make better-informed choices.
This is a high-trust, high-impact individual contributor role. It is not a software engineering position and it is not a people management role. It is designed for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, shaping execution, and improving how an organisation thinks and acts.
What You Will Do
Enable Insight-Driven Strategy and Execution
- Translate strategic priorities into clear initiatives and workstreams.
- Track progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes across journalism, marketing, experiences, and education.
- Prepare concise briefs, options papers, and recommendations that support informed decision-making.
- Act as continuity across initiatives as stakeholders, timelines, and priorities evolve.
- Collaborate closely with senior leaders, including the Director of Business Intelligence and AI, to ensure alignment and momentum.
Internal Intelligence and Analytical Capability
- Analyse editorial, audience, marketing, commercial, and operational data to surface meaningful patterns and signals.
- Produce clear, decision-oriented analysis for editorial, commercial, and executive stakeholders.
- Support marketing and commercial teams with lead performance intelligence, segmentation analysis, and funnel visibility.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and automation to improve analytical capacity and decision speed.
- Help ensure learning and understanding are shared, reused, and embedded across the Group.
- Support forecasting, scenario analysis, and performance tracking across key initiatives.
This role exists to help the Group see opportunities, trade-offs, and risks earlier, more clearly, and with greater confidence.
AI and Automation as Enablers
- Work hands-on with modern AI and automation tools to reduce manual work and expand analytical capability.
- Support initiatives using low-code orchestration platforms, LLM-based systems, and emerging AI tools.
- Document use cases, workflows, prompts, integrations, and governance practices.
- Coordinate pilots and rollouts with product, technical, and business teams.
- Track impact with a clear focus on time saved and value created.
You will not be expected to code or own production systems, but you should be comfortable understanding how workflows are designed and how AI systems support analysis and decision-making in practice. Familiarity with modern automation, AI and vibe coding tools are a strong advantage. That said, curiosity, adaptability, and sound judgment matter more than mastery of any single platform.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as a central coordination point across BI and AI initiatives.
- Work closely with technology teams without directing or duplicating engineering work.
- Partner with editorial, marketing, commercial, events, and education teams to strengthen intelligence and execution.
- Clarify ownership, expectations, and decision paths to reduce friction.
Governance and Rigour
- Support data governance and privacy work through documentation and reporting.
- Help maintain clear records of data usage, flows, and ownership.
- Contribute to executive and board-level reporting on BI and AI developments.
What This Role Is and Is Not
- Contributes to strategy execution and organisational capability rather than setting standalone strategic direction.
- Provides real proximity to decision-making and senior stakeholders.
- Does not own software architecture or engineering decisions.
- Does not manage developers or technical teams.
- Does not replace product, editorial, or engineering leadership.
Who This Role Is For
We are deliberately open on background. You do not need to have worked in journalism or media before. We welcome candidates from analytics, consulting, technology, operations, research, or similar fields. We will support you in learning how an insight-led media and knowledge Group operates. This role carries real responsibility and visibility. We are open to candidates at different stages of their career, including exceptional early-career or graduate candidates who have demonstrated unusual ownership, analytical ability, and hunger to learn.
You Are Likely To Bring:
- Strong analytical and problem-structuring skills.
- High data literacy and comfort working across multiple data sources.
- Experience producing analysis or intelligence for decision-makers, or clear evidence of the capability to do so.
- Excellent written communication and synthesis skills.
- Curiosity about AI, automation, and modern analytical workflows.
You Will Thrive If You Are:
- Highly organised and dependable.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and evolving priorities.
- Confident, collaborative, and emotionally intelligent.
- High ownership and accountability.
- Motivated by helping smart people make better decisions.
Your First Months
In your first few weeks, you will build deep context on the Group, its data landscape, and its strategic priorities. You will begin taking ownership of defined BI and AI workstreams and contributing to live initiatives that improve automation, intelligence, and decision-making across the Group. Within your first quarter, you will be supporting automation initiatives that free up time for higher-value work, strengthening marketing and commercial intelligence through better segmentation and lead analysis, and helping embed stronger analytical and AI capability across the Group. If you are excited by the idea of strengthening how an organisation runs on intelligence and AI, and helping talented teams operate with greater clarity and impact, we would love to hear from you.
