About the role
Job Overview
This role operates as a senior business leader at the intersection of Marketing, Sales, and Product Development—owning how strategy is translated into commercially impactful plans across the business. Our client is looking for a Growth Marketing Lead who is responsible for driving clarity, alignment, and conviction around where the business plays and how it wins. You will take executive-level strategy and ensure it is translated into focused priorities, strong storytelling, and execution that delivers results with both consumers and retail partners. This is not a coordination role; it is a high-ownership, high-judgment role that requires strong commercial instincts and the leadership presence to influence cross-functional teams.
Schedule: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM CT (20 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Commercial Plan Ownership: Translate executive strategy into clear, prioritized business plans across Marketing, Sales, and Product Development; define focus areas and success measures while identifying risks and trade-offs.
- Strategic Storytelling: Own the development of high-impact internal and customer-facing narratives; translate strategy into commercially grounded stories that drive retailer engagement and connect consumer insights with financial opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Operate as a senior partner across departments to lead conversations toward clear decisions; challenge thinking to ensure plans are differentiated and executable.
- Market Impact: Pressure test strategies against retail realities, competitive dynamics, and shopper behavior; integrate pricing, assortment, and channel dynamics into planning to ensure in-market success.
- Execution Excellence: Maintain visibility across key initiatives to ensure progress against priorities; hold teams accountable for outcomes and bring structure to complex workstreams.
Requirements
- Professional Experience: 8–12+ years in Brand Management, Growth Marketing, Shopper/Customer Marketing, or Commercial Strategy (CPG or retail strongly preferred).
- Leadership Level: Experience operating at or alongside US Brand Manager / Senior Brand Manager level or equivalent.
- Strategic Action: Proven track record of translating high-level strategy into business-driving plans and execution.
- Commercial Knowledge: Strong understanding of retail dynamics, customer expectations, and commercial levers.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced PowerPoint skills (executive storytelling) and comfort with Excel and Airtable (or similar planning tools).
Qualifications
- Business Mindset: Thinks beyond function to focus on total business impact and commercial acumen (revenue, margin, and growth).
- Strategic Translation: Ability to take ambiguity and create clarity, focus, and action.
- Influential Communication: Executive-level storyteller able to distill complexity into compelling narratives and drive alignment across functions.
- Leadership Presence: High judgment with the ability to prioritize and make critical trade-offs while remaining a low-ego, high-ownership partner.
