Data Product Owner at BRP

Our Marketing Data & Insights team is seeking a Data Product Owner to spearhead the Marketing department’s data strategy and deliver highly impactful data solutions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with technical experts to harness data as a strategic asset, generating tangible value for analytics teams. We are looking for an individual with extensive experience in various data management capabilities, including data governance, data operating models, and data strategy, to lead and implement foundational customer data products.

Your Opportunity

  • Translate business vision, needs, and issues into clear data use cases (KPIs, models, datasets, APIs).
  • Craft a data strategy aligned with internal stakeholders’ aspirations, ensuring technical feasibility meets business goals.
  • Maximize value creation by providing optimal datasets to fuel data-science models and personalization use-cases.
  • Define and prioritize features, use cases, and technical tasks to ensure the product backlog focuses on delivering maximum value.
  • Maximize velocity in product delivery by facilitating agile ceremonies with development teams and ensuring requirements are clearly communicated and met.
  • Ensure alignment on progress, trade-offs, and timelines through recurrent governances with key business stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for leveraging customer data to drive business value.
  • Improve existing data processes through automation.
  • Drive initiatives related to data governance, data quality, compliance, and privacy to ensure data assets are managed securely and compliantly.
  • Investigate data anomalies and participate in the resolution of data-related incidents and metric conflicts.
  • Own the single source of truth for marketing KPIs and ensure consistency across dashboards, reports, and teams.
  • Create and maintain proper documentation on new data sources, KPIs, tasks, and processes as they are added to the ecosystem.
  • Participate in the execution of the Customer Analytics team roadmap and vision.

Skills and Qualities to Thrive

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably as a Product Owner in a data management function.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of Data Warehousing, Data Management concepts, ETL/ELT, Data Analytics, and the data lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of customer and/or marketing data.
  • Proven experience in manipulating data sets with SQL language.
  • Experience and proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and familiar with project management tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working independently, efficiently, and effectively under tight timelines and delivering results by critical deadlines without alienating collaborators.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and propose solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).
  • Knowledge of PowerBI, Adobe Campaign, and/or Salesforce an asset.
