About the Senior Data Scientist Role

This is a THREE-MONTH engagement, with the possibility for an extension, requiring at least three hours of overlap with the Pacific Time Zone (PT). Advertising is Reddit’s primary revenue driver, and we have an ambitious goal to turn it into a massive business. Advertisers are increasingly drawn to Reddit due to its passionate communities, creating an opportunity for a highly differentiated ads business. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a key role in developing and applying cutting-edge data science models and methods to improve the adoption and performance of Reddit's advertising platform through data-driven insights. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and other data scientists to identify opportunities, define metrics, and build solutions that drive significant impact for Reddit.

About the Ads Data Science Team at Reddit

The Ads Data Science team at Reddit leverages data to maximize advertiser value through robust data foundations, metrics, and strategic insights generated through experimentation and cutting-edge DS methods. We work on a wide range of challenging problems in areas such as ads targeting, relevance modeling, auction optimization, measurement, and user experience. We are a highly collaborative team of passionate data scientists and engineers constantly pushing boundaries with machine learning and statistical modeling.

Main Job Duties

• Design, develop, and apply data science solutions to inform improvements in advertiser experience, as well as Reddit's ad platform and marketplace performance.
• Creating data assets, including new tables and self-serve dashboards, to enable partners to answer their own data questions.
• Creating reporting dashboards for product and engineering partners to understand topline metrics movements and deep dive into specific areas of interest.
• Analyze large-scale datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can be used to improve the effectiveness of our advertising platform.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to define product requirements and translate them into data science solutions.
• Uncovering strategic insights and sharing them with stakeholders to shape future product directions.
• Develop Machine Learning models and Data Science methods to improve anomaly detection, prediction, and pattern recognition.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, causal inference, and experimental design.
• Experience with large-scale data processing and analysis using tools such as Spark, Hadoop, or Hive; knowledge of BigQuery a plus.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Proficiency in Python or R and experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.

Bonus Points

• Experience with online advertising and ad tech.
• Experience with causal inference and A/B testing.
