About Devblock Technologies
Devblock Technologies is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Solution Architect to support a large-scale Order Management System engagement for an enterprise retail client. This role will help define the AWS cloud architecture, integration approach, infrastructure patterns, and build-phase blueprint for a modern, cloud-based OMS platform.
The Solution Architect will serve as the AWS cloud architecture lead and will collaborate closely with Devblock’s senior developers, DevOps, PM/BA, and client stakeholders. Given the scale and complexity of the engagement, this role is expected to provide cloud architecture leadership while working with specialized application, ERP, OMS, and development resources as needed.
Role Overview
The Senior AWS Cloud Solution Architect will be responsible for shaping the cloud architecture for an Order Management System platform. This includes designing scalable AWS architecture, defining event-driven integration patterns, guiding service selection, supporting infrastructure planning, establishing cloud architecture standards, and helping transition the solution from discovery/design into implementation.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with AWS cloud architecture, event-driven systems, serverless services, APIs, cloud security, observability, Infrastructure as Code, and enterprise integration. Experience with retail, commerce, order management, fulfillment, inventory, ERP integrations, or related operational platforms is highly preferred but not expected to be owned alone by this role.
This role is best suited for someone who can bring structure to complex AWS architecture decisions, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and create a practical cloud blueprint that delivery teams can execute against.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead AWS cloud architecture for a large-scale Order Management System platform.
- Define scalable, secure, observable, and maintainable cloud architecture patterns.
- Design event-driven and asynchronous integration patterns using AWS-native services.
- Guide service selection and architecture decisions across EventBridge, API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, CloudWatch, IAM, and related AWS services.
- Partner with DevOps / IaC specialists on infrastructure planning, Terraform design, security, and deployment strategy.
- Partner with senior developers to align cloud architecture with application architecture, microservices design, and implementation needs.
- Evaluate cloud and integration considerations across commerce, ERP, fulfillment, inventory, billing, and third-party systems.
- Create architecture diagrams, technical blueprints, decision records, and implementation guidance.
- Support delivery teams through architecture reviews, clarification, and AWS/cloud design decisions.
- Communicate trade-offs clearly across technical, business, and client stakeholders.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- AWS certification preferred, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
- Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale systems on AWS.
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS services such as EventBridge, API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, CloudWatch, IAM, and related cloud-native services.
- Experience designing event-driven, asynchronous, scalable, secure, and observable cloud architectures.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code concepts, especially Terraform best practices.
- Strong understanding of API architecture, integration contracts, versioning, and system-to-system communication.
- Ability to create clear architecture documentation, diagrams, technical blueprints, decision records, and implementation guidance.
- Experience leading cloud architecture conversations with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong judgment around trade-offs between scalability, cost, complexity, security, timeline, maintainability, and delivery risk.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Order Management Systems, commerce platforms, fulfillment workflows, retail operations, logistics, or supply chain platforms.
- Experience supporting ERP integrations such as NetSuite OneWorld or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience with microservices-based platforms and distributed application architecture.
- Experience designing APIs for third-party systems, front-end applications, external partners, or enterprise integrations.
- Experience with Java Lambda optimization, including cold-start considerations.
- Familiarity with Python or Node.js development environments.
- Experience with high-volume transaction processing, enterprise data modeling, or scalable schema design.
- Experience working with offshore, nearshore, or distributed engineering teams.
