Industrial Engineer - AI Training
This is a great opportunity to supplement your income while pursuing full-time or longer-term opportunities, all while applying your Industrial Engineering expertise to help improve next-generation AI models!
Our client has already hired over 1,000 Braintrust talent and plans to hire hundreds more. Many Braintrust subject-matter experts earn over $12,000/month. You’ll have the flexibility to work as much or as little as you choose, with 20 hrs/week suggested but not required. Your final hourly rate will be chosen by Outlier AI and determined by your location.

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree and/or PhD in Industrial Engineering
- Strong understanding of:
- Operations research
- Optimization methods
- Supply chain systems
- Manufacturing processes
- Quality engineering & process improvement
- Ability to critique and explain complex technical concepts in clear English
Preferred Qualifications
- Research or industry experience in optimization, simulation, or systems engineering
- Experience analyzing workflows, statistical models, or industrial systems
- Familiarity with programming or analytical tools (Python, R, MATLAB, or similar)
- Experience teaching or documenting technical material
What You’ll Be Working On:
Projects will focus on helping train AI large language models (LLMs) to better understand Industrial Engineering concepts, methods, and reasoning.
Example tasks may include:
- Evaluating AI-generated explanations of optimization, forecasting, and system design
- Reviewing analyses related to supply chain networks or operations research
- Assessing methodologies, calculations, and technical accuracy
- Writing clear explanations of tradeoffs in engineering decisions
- Reviewing step-by-step reasoning for correctness
