About the Role

The Head of Engineering Payments Platform LATAM at Braintrust is a strategic leadership role responsible for guiding a high-performing engineering team in the payments domain. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will manage a 40+ person team and oversee complex technical projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Provide strategic direction aligned with business goals in the payments space.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and scale a 40+ engineering team while fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Payment Integrations: Collaborate with product teams to design, develop, and optimize payment systems and third-party integrations.
  • Project Management: Oversee large-scale initiatives ensuring timely delivery with quality and risk management.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Operations, and Compliance teams to drive seamless payment solutions.
  • CTO Partnership: Report directly to the CTO and provide insights on performance, scalability, and technology strategy.
  • Process Improvement: Champion Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices to drive efficiency.
  • Innovation & Scalability: Guide architectural decisions ensuring systems are secure, scalable, and high-performing.

Qualifications & Skills

Candidates should have over 5 years of leadership roles in software engineering, deep expertise in the payments industry including payment gateways and fintech integrations, and excellent project management skills. Experience managing distributed teams of 40+ in an Agile environment is required. Technical proficiencies include backend/frontend stacks, AWS, microservices, and familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is expected.

Nice to Have

Experience with high-growth fintech or payments startups, familiarity with regulatory frameworks like PCI-DSS and PSD2, and background in AI/ML applications in payments.
