About Archaea

Archaea Energy, a leader in the landfill gas to energy industry, is seeking a Plant Operator at our King & Queen Land Fill Gas to Electric Plant in Little Plymouth, VA. This role requires 1-5 years of operation and maintenance experience on mobile or stationary engine generator sets up to 1500 kW, with specific experience on CAT G3500 and G3600 gas engines or similar piston engines, controls, generators, and ancillary equipment.

Introductory Employment Period

Your employment begins with a 90-day introductory period to ensure mutual fit. During this period, your supervisor will evaluate your performance based on attendance, work quality, deadline adherence, professionalism, and compliance with company policies and the bp Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform facility inspections, maintenance, and repairs of plant equipment.
  • Monitor and adjust plant system controls to improve performance.
  • Respond to plant alarms under designated supervision to apply corrective actions and follow shutdown/start-up procedures.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with state and federal permitting requirements and complete all required reporting.
  • Handle administrative duties including daily, weekly, and monthly logs and reports.
  • Manage inventory of tools, parts, fluids, and supplies.
  • Coordinate plant activities with utility companies and landfill personnel.
  • Perform safety-related duties including security inspections and training assignments.
  • Adjust and tune operational parameters to improve gas quality and quantity.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 1-5 years of operation and maintenance experience on engine generator sets up to 1500 kW.
  • Ability to read and interpret operations and safety manuals.
  • Proficiency in basic troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Digital literacy with Word, Excel, PLC, and email systems.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs and work in challenging physical conditions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license required.
  • Successful pre-employment drug test and background check.

Pay & Benefits

This role offers a base pay of $24 - $25 per hour, paid vacation, paid holidays, personal choice holidays, parental leave, annual bonus program, long-term incentives, a 401k matching program, and comprehensive health, vision, dental, life, and disability insurance benefits.
