Senior Systems Engineer (Contract – 6 Months)
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support, operate, secure and continuously improve our Linux and AWS-based infrastructure for a client platform. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on Linux systems, automation, security, deployments, incident response and close collaboration with development and client teams.
Information Security Responsibilities
- Promote and enforce awareness of key information security practices, including acceptable use of information assets, malware protection, and password security protocols.
- Identify, assess, and report security risks, focusing on how these risks impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets.
- Understand and evaluate how data is stored, processed, or transmitted, ensuring compliance with data privacy and protection standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
- Ensure data protection measures are integrated throughout the information lifecycle to safeguard sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support primarily Linux-based server and AWS infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance and reliability.
- Monitor systems, respond to alerts and incidents, and participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation.
- Perform security and maintenance activities including patching, upgrades and hardening.
- Develop and maintain automation for infrastructure provisioning, deployments and operational tasks.
- Work closely with developers and client teams to troubleshoot issues and support releases.
- Maintain documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required / Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (mandatory).
- Strong hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Linux production environments.
- Strong experience designing, operating and supporting AWS infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting and investigation skills, including root-cause analysis.
- Experience supporting Magento platforms running on Apache and PHP.
- Good knowledge and hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working with GitHub.
- Experience with Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk.
- Experience working with ITSM / ticketing tools such as ServiceNow for incident, change and request management.
