Designer - Collection Development

Designer
The Designer’s mission is to conceptualize, propose, and develop collections for Bouclair’s clientele as well as for our rapidly growing B2B division. He or she actively contributes to the creation of a cohesive, distinctive, and commercially successful product offering across multiple categories, including cushions, decorative objects, lighting, furniture, and seasonal products. This role combines creative vision with strong commercial awareness. The Designer is responsible for developing collections aligned with Bouclair’s aesthetic, while ensuring market relevance, feasibility, and adherence to timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Development and Collection Vision
- Conduct ongoing trend research in interior design, the market, and competitors to identify relevant opportunities for Bouclair and B2B.
- Propose a clear and structured vision for collections on a quarterly basis, taking into account seasonality, commercial needs, and different customer segments.
- Develop inspiring mood boards and strong creative directions to guide collection development.
- Create cohesive and balanced assortments, ensuring complementarity between products, materials, colors, and styles.
Collaboration and Product Development
- Work closely with the VP of Design and the Lead Designer to present product selections aligned with business objectives.
- Collaborate with the Buying team to ensure proposals meet commercial needs, cost constraints, and margin targets.
- Actively participate in the creative direction of artworks in collaboration with the Graphic Design team (notably for cushions and printed products).
- Propose textiles, materials, and techniques aligned with trends while ensuring feasibility and commercial relevance.
Development Follow-up and Execution
- Oversee product development from concept to final approval.
- Ensure adherence to collection timelines and go-to-market priorities.
- Collaborate with internal teams and partners to ensure product quality, consistency, and compliance.
- Participate in required adjustments throughout development to optimize the final product.
Commercial Performance and Brand Consistency
- Ensure each product developed meets clear objectives in terms of positioning, pricing, and volume.
- Maintain strong visual consistency across collections, in line with Bouclair’s brand identity.
- Contribute to the development of collections adapted to different channels, including retail and B2B.
Profile Sought
- Strong creative sense and aesthetic sensitivity
- Excellent understanding of trends and the market
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-project, and multi-category environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines simultaneously
- Good understanding of commercial challenges related to product development
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Availability for occasional travel to Europe and Asia
Qualifications and Skills
- College diploma or bachelor’s degree in fashion design or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop in a Mac environment
- Knowledge of commonly used materials in home furnishings and design processes is an asset
- Bilingual (French and English), spoken and written, essential for interacting with suppliers and partners from various countries where English is the common working language.
- Flexible, open, and receptive to feedback
- Experience creating technical specification sheets
Working Conditions
- Permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week)
- Hybrid work model: three days in-office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and two days remote (Monday and Friday)
- Daily collaboration with the design team, graphic designers, buyers, and other internal departments
