Job Description

Position Summary

The Communications and Engagement Manager leads departmental communications, marketing, and engagement efforts for the Computer Science Department at Boston University. This pivotal role strengthens the department's brand and community by overseeing communications strategy, faculty-driven programming, alumni and industry engagement, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Working closely with departmental leadership, faculty, and University partners, the Communications and Engagement Manager also provides essential support for faculty actions and appointments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the CS department website and oversee all departmental communications, marketing, and branding strategies.
  • Coordinate faculty actions, appointments, and faculty searches, including comprehensive search logistics and documentation.
  • Plan and support faculty-driven events, seminars, lectures, and departmental programs to foster academic and community engagement.
  • Lead alumni, industry, and career engagement initiatives, encompassing event planning, targeted communications, and fostering employer partnerships.
  • Support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts within the department and actively respond to related student concerns.
  • Supervise staff and/or student employees, providing guidance and direction.

Required Skills

  • B.A./B.S. degree and 3+ years of related professional experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to work flexibly and effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and with diverse university and external stakeholders.
