Job Description
Position Summary
Work with OEM customers and R&D engineering team in the development of Electronic Control Units (ECU) with embedded software for the control of an AWD Torque Transfer system. Responsibilities include management of ECU hardware suppliers for provisions of the electronics, as well as internal software, validation, and calibrations teams to bring together the ECU as a complete control system product.
Candidates must have strong technical project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and in-depth knowledge of the product/system development process to be able to support the successful integration of our product into customer vehicles. The candidate must also have strong communication skills to build relationships and foster teamwork with our customer and multi-discipline product development teams. The candidate will be the primary technical customer contact point for the BorgWarner PDS ECU development team.
Key Accountabilities
- Present electronic control unit design and system performance and obtain concurrence from customer.
- Manage system requirements and conformance to customer specification.
- Responsible for understanding and managing to closure product/system issues relative to intended system usage.
- Maintain customer action items list and manage commitments to ensure customer needs are met.
- Responsible for investigating customer product/system related problems and developing timely solutions.
- Represents BorgWarner-PDS ECU development department for the support of appropriate product teams as product team member.
- Must also act as technical resource for the manufacturing plants.
- Responsible for being the primary OEM Customer contact for BorgWarner-PDS ECU development team.
- Responsible for providing facilitation of upfront analysis with OEM Customer of vehicle assembly plant and warranty returns.
- Responsible for review and approval of vendor electrical design, test plans, and results.
- Support control engineering in development of algorithm.
- Support customer test trips for systems issues and calibration.
- Support vehicle demonstrations and early prototype vehicle as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required (Electrical and/or Vehicle Engineering preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience (required).
- Minimum 3 years of experience with automotive embedded electronic controller product development (required).
- Solid knowledge with ECU hardware and system design (required).
- Solid knowledge on vehicle network system and diagnostic (required).
- Technical project management experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of CMMI, SPICE, APQP, DFMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and ISO26262 (preferred).
- Experience of functional safety activities at different phases including concept phase, system development, hardware development and software development phases (preferred).
- Knowledge on vehicle dynamics control (preferred).
- Vehicle evaluation and test skills - including limit handling (preferred).
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR architecture and methodology (preferred).
- Experience working with Vector CAN tools (required).
- Experience of working with customers (required).
