Overview
The Cybersecurity Test Engineer Intern will collaborate with a team of creative problem-solvers to test and evaluate systems through a Whitebox adversarial approach for the DoD in support of Air Force clients. The role involves working with systems assessed on NIST 800-53 RMF and RTB security control requirements, focusing on filtering capabilities and low-level data flows including Mandatory Access Controls (MAC) and Discretionary Access Controls (DAC). Interns will build capabilities while learning from experienced team members.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in cybersecurity in academic environments
- Understanding of networking concepts including the OSI model
- Knowledge of virtualization and Linux administration
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- Scheduled to obtain a Bachelor's degree by Summer 2028
Additional Qualifications
- Programming experience in C, C++, Bash, Python, or Java
- Experience with penetration testing or adversarial emulation
- Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools like Kali Linux, Wireshark, Tripwire, Burp Suite, and Metasploit
- Knowledge of current cyber threats and system hardening techniques
- Secret clearance is preferred
Clearance & Compensation
Applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility for classified information access. Compensation is determined based on various factors with a projected range of $55,200 to $126,000 annually. This range is part of Booz Allen’s total compensation package, which includes extensive benefits.
Work Model & Commitment
Booz Allen prioritizes flexibility and collaboration. Depending on the assignment, you may work remotely, hybrid, or on-site at Booz Allen/client sites. A camera will be required during interviews and assessments for identity verification. All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to any protected status.
