Overview

As Legal Counsel - AI and Machine Learning, you will report to the Sr Managing Counsel for AI/ML as part of our emerging AI legal team within the Marketplace, AI and Procurement (MAP) group, Legal & Public Affairs department. You will work directly with business units involved in building, training, and using AI and ML, advising on risk, compliance with global AI regulations and internal AI policy. You will also support Legal & Public Affairs by providing guidance on AI regulation and governance, working on issues like the EU AI Act and global frameworks.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Act as a central pivot for multiple AI and ML product initiatives.
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage legal compliance for AI products.
  • Generate and maintain AI policies, playbooks, and guidelines.
  • Provide counsel support and manage material escalations.
  • Collaborate with Privacy, Competition, Consumer, and Compliance teams on regulatory matters.
  • Support AI regulatory interpretation and application of the AI Act.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer with in-house or law firm experience in tech and AI.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law; Masters is a bonus.
  • Professional qualifications such as AIGP or CIPP/E are a plus.
  • Experience in legal technology, legal design, and using AI within legal teams.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
