About the team
The Data & AI Governance department enables extending the governance theme of policies, standards, processes and technology for governing data and AI to driving excellence in our approach to leveraging secure, trusted, accessible data for data driven decision making through:
- An overarching Data & AI Policy to include associated standards
- Data & AI Governance including meta and master data management
- Data & AI Delivery Governance
- Data & AI Quality including both technical and business quality measures
This enables the maturity of Data and AI capabilities across Booking.com, unlocking data and algorithms as assets for delivering innovative growth opportunities and cost saving operational efficiencies.
Role Description
The Data & AI Governance Operations Analyst I is responsible for the governance and project management initiatives within the respective department. The Project Manager role will partner with the various teams within the Department to support, and proactively work with them, to facilitate the work occurring between them and the business units and centralized functions. They will help the teams to scope and plan the projects by helping to document the project goal, KPIs, roadmap and main deliverables.
Data & AI Governance Operations Analyst I will ensure that the projects of the respective department teams are managed in a consistent manner, whilst working with the business units & central functions within Booking.com to build engagement and where needed governance over decisions needed for work to be signed off. In some cases, the role requires dealing with external vendors and managing external stakeholders.
The Data & AI Governance Operations Analyst I will also help the different teams to mitigate the project risks and dependencies to make sure there is progress towards the project's milestones. First and foremost, the Data & AI Governance Operations Analyst I will ensure the team's roadmaps/plans focus on agreed business priorities, dependencies and strategies – designed based on data and business needs, and deliver against the shared objectives & goals.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Contribute to the definition, review, update and own roll-out of the Data & AI Governance framework and related standards and guidelines across the business units.
- Collaborating with Risk and Compliance to understand Data Governance Risk position and appetite, to communicate, lead and measure mitigation activities and how Data & AI Governance can support the implementation and compliance for Data and AI across Booking.
- Ensure alignment between Data & AI governance methodology, Data Privacy procedures and requirements, the IT Information Security strategy and any new regulatory compliance such as DMA/ DSA and EU AI Act by working closely with Legal teams.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
Data and AI Governance:
- Data Stewardship: Assist in defining Data Ownership and Stewardship structures, helping ensure clear accountability and supporting the onboarding process for data stewards.
- Data & AI Governance Principles: Support the application and implementation of Data & AI Governance principles, processes, and standards to help maintain consistent governance practices.
- Regulatory Compliance: Help ensure compliance with Data & AI regulatory policies, such as GDPR, DMA, SOx, and the EU AI Act, by staying informed about updates and assisting with incorporating them into governance practices.
- Data & AI Governance Practices: Assist with tasks related to data cataloging, profiling, metadata management, data classification, data lineage, and workflows, helping ensure proper governance of key data elements.
Project Management:
- Craft Methodology and Standards: Apply structured methodology to and lead project/change management activities.
- E2E Project Management: Lead independently End-to-end (E2E) low/medium [Project/Workstream] and/or support high complexity [Project] from scoping to execution, analysis, recommendation and implementation.
- Project Initiation and Planning: With limited supervision, drives the program scoping and planning working with different teams and creating associated documentation.
- Project Implementation and Completion: Drive project plan execution, ensuring project objectives are met on agreed timelines, track and report progress and ensure a project closing and correct handover to Business as usual.
- Project Governance: With limited supervision design and implement project governance and delivery structure to ensure efficient delivery, communication and decision making.
- Delivery/Impact: Drive the progress and successful delivery or initiatives that bring value to the business.
- Stakeholder Management: Primary point of contact for Project(s) related queries. Ability to work and productively interact with different stakeholders up to Director level.
- Success Metrics: Define and measure the success metrics of the Project(s) in scope.
- Facilitator: Lead independent workshops to support the delivery of the Project(s).
- Project Management Tooling: Knowledge of Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
Experience Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience around Data Governance, or, alternatively, 2+ years of experience in working with Data, coming from Data Analysis, Business Analysis, Analytical background.
- 2-3 years or relevant project management experience.
