Job Description

Public Policy Specialist at Bolt

With over 200 million customers in 50+ countries, Bolt is one of the fastest-growing tech companies in Europe and Africa. Our ultimate goal is to make cities for people, not cars, and we need your help to achieve this mission!

We believe in creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, regardless of race, colour, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, or disability.

About The Role

The Public Policy Specialist will support Bolt’s engagement with policymakers, regulators, and key external stakeholders in Romania. This role is instrumental in analysing legislative developments, shaping policy positions, and maintaining strategic relationships that help create a supportive regulatory environment for Bolt’s operations.

You’ll be responsible for strengthening Bolt’s public policy presence, supporting advocacy efforts, and ensuring that our business objectives align with evolving legal and policy frameworks. This is a dynamic role for someone who enjoys navigating complex regulatory landscapes and translating policy insights into actionable business recommendations.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a network of stakeholders to support the team’s government affairs strategy and strengthen Bolt’s voice in policy discussions.
  • Review proposed legislation and regulations to assess their impact on business operations and provide evidence-based recommendations for potential amendments.
  • Conduct legal and policy research to inform recommendations that improve efficiency and compliance.
  • Draft policy briefs, talking points, and reports for internal and external stakeholder engagements.
  • Prepare letters and position papers that reflect the company’s policy views on key issues.
  • Manage relationships with NGOs, civil society, and safety organisations to strengthen collaboration.

About You

  • You have 2–4 years of experience in public policy, government relations, or regulatory affairs.
  • You have a strong understanding of Romania’s legal and regulatory environment.
  • You’re skilled at analysing legislation, preparing policy documents, and presenting complex topics clearly.
  • You build constructive relationships with policymakers and external stakeholders.
  • You’re proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • You’re curious, collaborative, and driven to create positive policy outcomes for innovative industries.

Experience is great, but what we really look for is drive, intelligence, and integrity. So even if you don’t tick every box, please consider applying if you feel you’re the kind of person described above!

Why You'll Love It Here

  • Accelerate your professional growth with unique career opportunities.
  • Enjoy a rewarding salary and stock options, knowing that as Bolt succeeds, so do you.
  • Take care of your physical and mental health with our wellness perks.
  • Celebrate 5 years at Bolt with a 1-month paid sabbatical to recharge.
  • Connect with colleagues at annual company events and smaller team gatherings.
  • Balance flexibility and in-person collaboration with our hybrid model, including at least 12 monthly in-office days.

Some perks may differ depending on your location and role.
