Responsibilities of a Truck Driver

  • Deliver and distribute a variety of building products to assigned customers.
  • Ensure the safe loading, handling, and transportation of materials and heavy cargo.
  • Operate a commercial truck to destinations, adhering to all driving regulations and demonstrating skilled maneuvering, especially in challenging situations.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and relay any customer questions or complaints to the supervisor promptly.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, identifying any defects or potential problems with the truck, and submit detailed reports on the vehicle's condition.
  • Maintain the vehicle in safe operating condition, including monitoring and servicing with fuel, oil, and water.
  • Maintain comprehensive logs and records in strict compliance with D.O.T. regulations.
  • Assist fellow associates with loading and unloading trucks or building loads as required.
  • Secure cargo properly for safe transit.
  • Maintain a clean truck and ensure good housekeeping in the work area.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or two (2) years of equivalent work experience.
  • Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and the proven ability to safely operate transportation equipment, specifically tractor/trailer combinations.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of truck driving experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and the ability to meet Boise Cascade's driver qualification standards.
  • Capable of performing duties in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Flatbed experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of building products and forklift experience are considered a plus.
