Role Overview

The Trade Compliance Specialist - US Customs role is ideal for an experienced import expert with deep knowledge of U.S. import programs, harmonized tariff classifications, and customs clearance processes. The candidate will manage the day-to-day import program for Insitu within the Unmanned Aerial Systems business and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and manage U.S. customs clearance applications.
  • Update and maintain import program process documentation.
  • Provide strategic guidance on U.S. tariff policy changes.
  • Collaborate with parent company and customs brokers to resolve issues.
  • Classify harmonized tariff schedule for new technologies and systems.
  • Analyze internal customs processes and recommend improvements.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should have 7+ years’ experience with drafting and managing U.S. Customs clearance applications, direct work experience as a licensed U.S. Customs broker in the aerospace industry (within the last 2 years), and a strong background in import program improvement projects.

  • Experience in harmonized tariff classification and customs ruling requests.
  • Proven ability to work with technical and programmatic teams.
  • Demonstrated success in developing business strategies using U.S. Customs rules to mitigate duty and tariff exposure.

Required Skills

Key skills include attention to detail, independent work ability, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Teams, SharePoint, and Excel.

Education & Certifications

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with 10-15 years of experience or a master’s degree with 7-9 years of experience, along with a valid U.S. Customs broker license.

Contract Details

This is a one-year contract role with potential extension based on business needs.
